Excellent film displaying the intense work/play atmosphere of their LA workshop, many of their enterprises are described and shown. Excellent interviews. Spectacular editing of this film. Consideration of their marriage is a thread throughout. SUPERB film.
Comments about PBS Eames: The Architect and the Painter DVD:
Charles and Ray Eames were designers who were way ahead of their time. They assisted the american public with their understanding and appreciation of new and innovative ideas, rather they be in regard to architecture, furniture design, graphic design, textile design, instructional video and advertising and marketing. Well worth the time invested in watching.
Comments about PBS Eames: The Architect and the Painter DVD:
As a former employee of Herman Miller, who had a long working relationship with the Eameses and introduced changes based on the research they had done with bending wood during the war, I was so pleased to see this new overview of their lives. Probably the most famous is the Eames Chair and Ottoman, still sold today by HMI, as are many of his other designs. This program is a wonderful overview of their relationship and designs in multiple fields and does a good job describing their ground-breaking and award-winning partnership.
