This is my first time seeing the San Francisco Ballet and I absolutely enjoyed it. I saw the Little Mermaid dance on PBS. The dancers were magnificant. I will look forward to seeing them in person the next time they are at the Kennedy Center.

This is a remarkable and wonderful presentation. Watching it played from DVD to a large home screen makes you realize that seeing the ballet this close at the theatre would subject you to the pitter patter of those talented feet, not heard at home.

The San Francisco Ballet scored a great hit with this stunning performance. The dance and musical score beautifully portray the heartbreak of the mermaid who for the sake of doomed love tried and failed to become human in Hans Christian Andersen's tale.

This ballet combines a classical theme with modern dance in such a way that the viewer accepts the merger with ease/ Hans Christian Anderson"s fairy tale is used to dramatize the disconnect between sexual orientationn and spiritual love. The DVD set comes with an insightful commentary on the making and meaning of this brilliantly casted and presented ballet. The visual effects are stunni8ng and the dancing is right on.
