Thank you PBS for first airing Series 1. That is how we got hooked. This is such a grand series that I still watch it Sundays on PBS even though we own Series 2.

I bought our Downton Abbey Series 2 from the U.K. last November, 2011. I just could not wait until its North American release. Some years ago we bought a region-free DVD player for so many lovely, intelligent British movies.

I notice that Series 2 is showing 3 dvds, but our U.K. Series 2 has 4 dvds and that does NOT include the Christmas Special. I just checked to make sure that it does contain 4 discs. We watched it 2 months ago so perhaps the special features takes up 1 disc, I would have to play it again to see.

I just watched clips and a trailer from the Christmas Special on Youtube and it is something! That special is included on Series 2 here at PBS. They are now selling it seperately in the U.K. I suppose I should have waited for its release here. As the old saying goes, "Good things come to those that wait."
Now, I wil sell my U.K. Series 2 and but the North American one in a couple of weeks.

I read a review on another website and the writer stated that one really needs to see the Christmas Special to complete the continuity of the stories. Series 3 won't begin exactly where Series 2 ended. Series 3 begins where the Christmas Special ends. Viewing it on Youtube substantiates this comment.

FYI, Youtube shows a number of Q&A sessions between the audience and most of the main performers while they were here in the N.A. (maybe during their trip her to attend the Golden Globes).
