As I grow older, life does come full circle. Joe Hutto shows life patterns repeat in all life. Who did the wonderful music- "Wandering Shoes"? Thank you for the experience.

Comments about PBS NATURE: My Life as a Turkey DVD:

My grandfather was the owner of a large farm in Maine. My dad helped him with the huge task of farming, off and on during my formative years in the mid-1940's. To this day, I have such fond memories, and even more precious, many life lessons from life on the farm. My dad and grandfather "loved" and treated all their animals with respect and understanding.
I recall playing in one of the sheds adjoining the main house, listening to the chicks still "inside" the eggs just before they hatched...just a normal part of life then. We welcomed them with such joy and pleasure.
Now (at 70 years of age) I am a teacher of students with special needs, and after watching "My Life As A Turkey" today...stumbling onto it...I have it in my lesson plans for tomorrow's Literacy, Language Arts, Social Studies/Science classes, as an introductory unit for Domestic Animals/Farm Animals. Now, we all know that "wild" turkeys are not "farm" animals, but I intend to show the students how Joe Hutto's experiment on human-imprinting and raising them relates to all of life...including raising farm animals. The students will love it. I will report back.
Thank you so much for this moving video. I shed many tears thanking God for such a touching, moving and inspiring peek into the world of animal-human "communication".

Comments about PBS NATURE: My Life as a Turkey DVD:

This moving film follows Joe as he raises a flock of turkeys as their "parent", coming to know so much about them, as turkeys and as individuals. The solitude they experience together makes all the difference. The filming and narration are excellent, and you feel like you're there. Wonderful!

Comments about PBS NATURE: My Life as a Turkey DVD:

I loved Hutto's keen insights. I loved his willingness for complete honesty and his absolute dedication to his mission. I was enthralled with his exposure of some of the depths of nature itself, and the awesome wonder of it.

The photography was absolutely beautiful and even the story was exciting -- a real winner. Thanks a lot, PBS! Kudos!
