The movie follows the book reasonably close and contains the suspense. The earlier 1960's version is great for comparison.

This was a well done show, the best of the non-Marple Christie stories adapted for Miss Marple's TV movies. It was also a nice touch to include an earlier version of "The Pale Horse" without Miss Marple. In some ways the Marple version was closer to the book, and a much better film. Sorry there were no extras, however.

It was a surprise to receive both the new and old version of this story. Since I haven't read that particular book, I'm not sure whether or not Miss Marple is actually in the book; however, I really enjoyed the version with her incorporated. Both versions were filmed in a darker set than I probably would have preferred. I'm going to watch the DVD again and hopefully the darkest will not be quite so intrusive. All-in-all I enjoyed both versions very much.

I love PBS and I love to add great movies to my collection, so PBS has it all great TV and also great dvd.
