Comments about PBS Freedom Riders / Eyes on the Prize Set:

The Eyes on the Prize series does not need my endorsement as it stands on its own. It remains one of the best, if not the best, documentaries on the civil rights movement in the United States.

Dr. Ray Arsenault's monumental work, Freedom Riders, reveals the struggles of those who fought for recognition as human beings and the complex machinations of several entities that resulted in the desegregation of interstate bus travel. The American Experience documentary, "Freedom Riders," captures the essence of Dr. Arsenault's research with footage that is, at times, almost unbelievable. For anyone interested in learning about this critical period in American history, I highly recommend Dr. Arsenault's book, and the American Experience documentary based on it.
