Comments about PBS The Kings's Speech DVD:
The writing, acting, directing, producing, all were at the peak of perfection. I have never bought a movie and but this was a rarity and holds a place of honor in my home.
Comments about PBS The Kings's Speech DVD:
I own the DVD, watched it twice so far....I'll probably wear it out. All the actors were subperb. His Majesty, Mr. Firth displayed all the skill, nuances and humanity of his character. I expected no less. It was nice to see Jennifer Ehle of 'Pride & Prejudice' fame. I also recognized David Bamber of same movie as play producer.
I'm always astonished when I learn what a CAD Prince Edward was & how dangerous his wife's coziness with the Nazi's was...something that could have changed history.
Helene Bonham-Carter was beautiful and played the wife & Queen wonderfully. She came across as very loving, mature & intelligent.
I'm thankful the judges overcame some of the 'anti-brit' bias (movie-star-wise) and awarded Colin Firth, the movie and the cast, director, etc. such high praise. Such an excellant movie was far superior to the usual "blow-em-up', sex & violence fluff that passes for entertainment today. Long live the King!
Comments about PBS The Kings's Speech DVD:
We watched the movie 3 times within 3 days, (and rarely watch a movie a second time) it was that good. First time, we viewed the movie regularly, then with English sub-titles, then with the director's commentary. It's amazing how much newly discovered diaries impacted the dialog and details.

Comments about PBS The Kings's Speech DVD:
This movie is fantastic on so many levels, especially if you want to understand some of the dynamics of family life of English Royalty and the character demands on these human beings. Fantastic casting. Thanks, PBS for offering this movie so I could by it and support PBS at the same time!
