There he photographs an eclectic band of "catadores" -- or self-designated pickers of recyclable materials.

So rarely can we observe creators of beauty, that when we do, our 'shudder of response' transforms our very sense of dignity. Our being human is honored by Director Lucy Walker in partnership with artist Vik Muniz, who aesthetically perfected the living "spirit, courage and dignity" (Walker's comment to Tavis Smiley: 11/04/2010) of the Rio de Janiero garbage dump persons--and thereby--transforming themselves, us, and our shared world of respect for humanity.
