Nominated for a 2011 Oscar® for Best Documentary Feature. Filmmaker Josh Fox grew up in the verdant woods of the Delaware River valley. Comments about PBS Gasland DVD:

I'm an environmental science & biology teacher and one of my students recommended this video to me after I showed them a video about another environmental problem ("Coal Country"). I'm glad I ordered it - it's a very good, and enlightening/frightening, overview of the consequences of this type of resource extraction - and its consequences also agree with what I was personally told in 2000 by one rural family who was living in the midst of gas extraction wells in southwest Colorado.

It expresses the same concerns & most of the same perspectives as the short video (about 10 minutes) that I downloaded about fracking from the recently shown segment on "60 Minutes". I know that I'll be showing my future students either "Gasland" or the shorter "60 Minutes" segment, depending on how much time I have available in class, especially because I have students from all over the USA and this exploitable resource is found in 31 states, potentially impacting many of them or their families.
