I watched this on masterpiece theatre and I didn't exactly understand this and I didn't like it from the first episode although I watched it all the way to completion anyway. I give it one star but I wouldn't even give it one. I like the actors, it's not their faults that this movie failed with me, I truly like Matthew MacFadyen since I first saw him in Pride and Predjudice, he's a terrific actor, one of my favorite british actors.

I simply love all Masterpiece Classic productions, but this one really got to me! The acting by all three men is of course superb and so convincing. I am thinking of buying the book-it was such a lovely story and so bittersweet!

An elegantly framed and beautifully filmed, touching bildungsroman - life vignettes inspired by an old man coming across objects in an old room that evoke memorires. Strung together, they make an enthralling and touching story. Bonus: what fun to run into the "real" characters Logan manages to stumbles on in his adventures. Thoroughly enjoyable ride. Surprises, unpredictable plot, quite satisfying British fare.

I thoroughly enjoyed the performances of all cast members, along with the photography. The writing was excellent and expecially poignant was the secene of Freya and her daughter'S last moments. It was a truly cinematic first. The character of Logan was played with genuine believability by all three actors in the role. Bravo.
