You cannot do any better for an all encompassing work on the Civil War. This makes you want to know more, visit battlefields, watch reenactments and completely immerse yourself in the horror and reality of this conflict.

I am a tremendous Ken Burns fan. I enjoyed his other work, such as Baseball and The War, but The Civil War is genious. Don't forget, I am from Alabama, and we lost.

I saw this documentary on PBS many years ago - I taped it and watched it over and over. It's engaging, historically accurate, brilliant...I could go on and on. I'm so pleased to have the DVD set - I've wanted to watch it again for the longest time. If you're a Civil War buff, this is the documentary to watch. Even if you're not a buff, you will enjoy it .. it's awesome!

Riviting. Fascinating. Makes you feel like the Civil War was yesterday. Eye-opening to what shaped America the way it is today. I am from Washington State but lived in Tennessee for over a year. This series helped me understand the culture shock we felt while we were there and why people in the South still bring up the Civil War and say, "There was nothing civil about it!"
