My favorite series is set 19. Specifically "The Sword of Guillaume" and "Blood on the Saddle". These were wonderful. As you can see, I am a huge fan. I own about 7 sets. These will be great to watch in winter. You can watch them more than once as you miss a lot on first watch.

Mysteries always a bit weird and interesting to watch. More recently in the series the violence seems more graphic, but still very watchable.

I think that the Midsomer Murders Mystery Series on PBS/Masterpiece Theater are my absolute favorites. John Nettles always delivers a stellar performance and Daniel Casey as long-suffering Sgt.Troy compliments DCI Barnaby. I already own other sets of Midsomer Murders, but these are easy to watch again and again. Thank you.
