Enjoyed the series when it first aired and am glad to add to my collection of PBS dvds. My husband had never saw the series and he really enjoyed watching the different dvds.

Several years ago I saw one or two of the Cadfael Mysteries on TV and later in a classroom. Sir Derek Jacobi plays the part of Brother Cadfael so well that you feel as if you were there in the story with them. Not always a kinder gentler age of history but done with good taste and historical background, costuming etc. I am very happy to own the DVD's for our own viewing.

So happy for the reissue of this series of movie mysteries! Jacobi is superb in this role, using his knowledge and skills to solve forensic crimes. Would recommend for any age group, not too morbid for the little ones.

I've enjoyed Derek Jacobi's work ever since "I,Claudius" in the 70's and I'm a BIG history buff. Evan though this was made for TV and the people are much cleaner than they probably were... watching these episodes were greatly enjoyable. If you found "Name of the Rose" interesting, then this is for you.
