This is a wonderful topic - behind every hi-tech invention, there is a model that was simple and organically made. This DVD is good to teach children.

I used this DVD set for my class on materials and manufacturing. Some of the humor is a bit hokey, but all in all it does a great job of explaining the principles of material properties. Highly recommended.

After watching 2 parts of this series on PBS I had to order it for my 8 year old son, who can't stay up late enough very often to watch Nova - his favourite show. All four sections within the series were a huge hit with him and with both my partner and myself.
I ended up buying another two DVDs, one for a nephew and one for one of my son's friends - both 8 years old and also in love with science.
Great shows for all ages.

The innovations presented in these videos if used wisely open the door to saving the ressources of the planet. Mankind needs to get rid of the burning of fossil fuel as soon as possible and many of the technologies presented in these videos offer that possibility.
