I am a huge Sondheim fan and make a point to see all of his work either on B'way and/or DVD. Happened to catch this production on PBS recently when it aired, but the DVD has some scenes which were not aired in my part of the country (I guess due to time and during pledge breaks).
My favorite piece is Audra McDonald's rendition of the FULL Sondheim work "The Glamorous Life" as it was written and performed in the film version of "A Little Night Music." I think she is outstanding (as are practically all of the performers on this DVD) and her performance of this rare find of a musical number gave me chills and also brought me to tears. (I can't stop watching it!)
I'm usually pretty easy to please when it comes to anything Sondheim related, but this DVD is really a great purchase for the price. Once again, PBS delivers a quality production and a piece of theater history. Now if they would just release some more Sondheim works ...

The music, of course, was fabulous. I am glad to have this DVD of Steve's 80th. And of course, it's great to watch Manny and Bernadette do Sunday in the Park again, and I compare it with the original they did what, 20 years ago? They are even better now! The clarity of the film isn't as good as the 1992 concert.

I watched this show when it first aired, recorded it on my DVR and have watched it 8 times since! I'm so glad PBS made it available on DVD. Now I can loan it to friends and I also ordered one for
a friend's birthday gift. If, heaven forbid, my
house ever catches fire this item is one of those
