I found Eccleston's accent a little bit distracting. There was no inflection in his voice whatsoever. Everything was very monotoned, which made the performance appear FLAT! I'm a huge Beatle fan, & an even bigger Lennon fan. While the storyline was pretty good, the lack of emotion from the character just left me wanting more.

to me while i watched the short protion that i did i really enjoyed it. I honestly thought that it was one of the greatest documentaries on John Lennon's life. I think all the actors portrayed their parts quite well. I'm the extreme beatle mania girl and i really liked it.

I admit that I have always been over-awed by John Lennon. But I know Lennon mythology is over blown. Still, this program seeks not only to dispel the myth it feels like a crucifixion. The producers almost seem to want to punish him for leaving England. We are basically told this was the most selfish man who ever stood in the limelight. It focuses entirely on his rudeness and self absorption. I guess in the final analysis reality doesn't matter with Lennon, it is how we perceived him and his life and accomplishments. To me he was a talented pied piper for good. Others may prefer this picture.

This is Lennon naked of humanity, humor or intelligence. Eccleston's performance is grating and humorless. Complete waste of time. I can't imagine how PBS went so wrong on this production.
